Investigation of Tendency among Instructors to Conduct a Massive Open Online Course: Case of Turkey

The purpose of this study is to examine the faculty members’ tendency conduct a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and factors affecting these tendencies. In study, sectional survey model, quantitative research method, was used. group comprised 122 members working at major state university in Turkey selected by using random stratified sampling method. During process, were informed about MOOCs, data collected through questionnaires. According results research, 34.4% willing MOOC main aim teaching share their knowledge experience with masses. members, it seen that more appropriate expert experienced members. Factors such as providing benefits corporate development promotion, supporting lifelong learning, creating reliable sources information on Internet are considered positive elements for conducting MOOC, while has been determined concerns issues adequate time, copyright, instructional design adversely affect MOOC. addition, revealed expected institutional incentives including technical infrastructure information. line obtained from suggestions made institutions wishing MOOCs researchers studies MOOCs.
